The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) requires periodic evaluation of groundwater sustainability plans (GSPs) at least every 5 years. FCGMA is working on Periodic Evaluation documents for its GSPs for each basin: Las Posas Valley (LPV), Oxnard Subbasin, and Pleasant Valley (PV), following the best practices recommended by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).

Redline and updated Periodic Evaluation documents will be available for stakeholder review later in November, before the FCGMA Board discusses formal adoption in December 2024.
The Periodic Evaluations must be submitted to DWR by January 13, 2025, exactly 5 years after the Groundwater Sustainability Plans were submitted (which is why this iteration of periodic evaluations has often been referred to as “5-Year GSP Evaluations”). Once submitted, the Periodic Evaluations will be available on the DWR SGMA portal.
